Roscoe Outfits Reps with High Visibility Work Uniforms

Over the next several weeks, Roscoe’s route service representatives (RSRs) will begin wearing high visibility uniforms, including pants, shirts, shorts, and jackets.

Our RSRs spend a lot of time in potentially-hazardous environments like parking lots, loading docks and roadways. Although visibility uniforms are not required by law for the work and exposure that our RSRs are subject to, we at Roscoe would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to our team members. In addition to employee safety, an accident caused due to low visibility and not taking precautionary measures leaves your company open to OSHA fines and increased insurance premiums. Additionally, an accident that could have possibly been prevented can also affect employee morale.

Finding the Right High-Visibility Uniforms

Like any other product that Roscoe considers offering as a rental item, we conduct rigorous wash tests to make sure it will withstand repeated washing using recommended manufacturer formulas. Visibility uniforms need special care to preserve the bright colors that make our workers stand out. Also, many uniforms are equipped with 3M Scotchlite reflective material, which requires specific washing and drying to make sure they continue to meet standards and function properly.

Apparel Vendors & Support

Roscoe offers both enhanced visibility and hi-visibility uniforms in blended, cotton and flame resistant fabrics. We utilizes Red Kap, Reed Manufacturing and Sanmar as suppliers for visibility garments that we make available through both rental and purchase programs. In addition to supplying product, these vendors also provide education and training for not just our RSRs, but also our district service managers and executive leadership team.

New ANSI Visibility Standards

Roscoe also recently participated in a TRSA webinar regarding the new ANSI visibility standards. The new standard separates garments into three distinct types: off-road use, roadway use, and public safety use. This allows for a greater range of protection. The newest type, called “O” for off-road use, is designed for workers not exposed to highway traffic or temporary traffic control zones. Type “R” is for roadway jobs, when workers are exposed to traffic from public access highways, rights of way or roadway temporary traffic control zones. Type “P” is the last type in the new standard and is designated for emergency and law enforcement personnel who are exposed to struck-by hazards in roadway or off-road work environments.

Safety Is Priority #1

At Roscoe, safety is our number-one concern. When you send team members out into the field, you want them to feel confident that they’ll come home safely every night, so when appropriate we recommend that you provide them with visibility work uniforms to protect them and help them get the job done… safely. Let Roscoe be your guide to finding the right uniforms and to keep them clean and in top condition.
